ABOUT MONKEY KISSES

Our mission is not to advocate the ownership of primates, but rather to serve the needs of  those who already have monkeys sharing their homes. We strive to present a fair and informed view of what monkey ownership really means. They are not the vicious, diseased and unmanageable creatures portrayed by animal rights groups.  On the other side of the spectrum, they are also not the cuddly, docile sweet-faced companions depicted on television. Monkeys can be affectionate and rewarding to care for when raised under the right circumstances, but not without a tremendous amount of dedication and proper education on the part of the caregivers. New monkey owners need an honest, unbiased view of what to expect and what can go wrong. Our forum is a meeting place where people can ask questions and exchange ideas and knowledge with one another.  With the combined knowledge of our many personal experiences, responsible breeders and the kind vets that take my calls, we can strive to address some of the challenges all monkey parents face from time to time. Social issues, feeding challenges and behavior are areas where we can all help each other.

We look forward to our blog pages supporting specific questions and  experiences. If we can't find the answer, we know there is someone out there who can. We have a tribute page to honor our beloved companions and a place to share our "monkey tales ."

While not promoting primate ownership we certainly support 100 % the rights of responsible ownership of exotic pets. However, we also believe that there should be fair and unbiased regulations to prevent casual acquisition and unregulated breeding. Right now the exotic pet trade has no responsible oversight and hundreds of suffering animals are placed in inadequate homes with owners that have neither the knowledge nor the means to care for them properly. The love of these remarkable animals should be enough motivation for all of us to speak up and step up to the task of weeding out those that abuse the right to breed and own, not just primates, but all exotics.

Finally, we have, hands down, the very best monkey diapers ever! We've carefully selected our pattern and materials after years of trying to get the perfect diapering solution...absorbent, comfortable and reasonably priced. Our monkey diapers are reusable and washable for hundreds of wearings to make diapering your primate more convenient and affordable. We use the highest quality micro-fiber fleece exteriors and use organic cotton sherpa inner liners to prevent leaks and to draw wetness away from your baby’s skin. We line the diaper with colorful print cotton flannel and use baby wear quality snap sets for a snug and secure fit...no velcro! Adult sizes have elasticized leg openings with no exposed elastic to pull on fur. All that ever touches your baby’s skin is soft 100% cotton flannel.

Our sizes start with extra tiny for baby marmosets and tamarins (as small as 40 grams) and to up to Tamarin sizes to over 750 gram weights. The earlier you begin diapering your baby the better. It simply becomes part of their normal routine rather than a battle. I’ve had monkey parents tell me that their baby is so accustomed to diapers that they sit and wait to be changed.

We have adorable patterns and colors for boys and girls and look forward to serving your diapering needs. Once you have tried our quality product, you will never again want to deal with flimsy, overpriced, diaper covers and expensive disposables.

We gladly make custom diapers for any breeds of monkey sized for your baby’s weight and measurements.  Just give me a call or send an email if you have specific diapering needs.

FEEDING SUPPLIES

We have the silicone slip-tip syringes and silicone nipples for infant feeding in stock and ready to ship. Silicone syringes can be rinsed out and used again and again without the stickiness and clogging typical of rubber syringes. These will last until you're baby is weaned. We've packaged them in an economical nursing starter kit that should be everything you need to get baby off to a good start.

We have Mazuri Monkey biscuits in manageable portions for marmosets and tamarins. This nutritious must-have diet staple in typically available in 25-pound bags, hardly practical for a tiny two-pound monkey. I have them in reasonably priced twelve-ounce packages (a two month supply), vacuum-sealed for freshness.

We have a few cases of Low-iron Similac available until the supply runs out. This is the feeding staple for our small New World monkeys and has been almost impossible to find.

NEW!
We now have a selection of wonderful treats created by Bio-Serve laboratories. They are developed specifically with primates tastes and health needs in mind. Because Bio-Serve sells only in bulk quantity, it's hard for many monkey parents to try them out. I've packaged  them in convenient small "try-me" sizes so our smaller primates can enjoy them too. These treats are a perfect reward for training and diaper changing.

If you have general questions or need details about any of our products, or if you just need to "monkey" talk, please contact me at  (253) 630-2775 or email me at Linda@MonkeyKisses.com.  If I'm unable to answer your questions, I'll do my best to direct you to someone who can.
